Die Ausgangslage

Womit die Hochschule zu uns kam.

The existing website needed to be modernised both visually and functionally. At the same time, it was necessary to address university-specific requirements—such as the presentation of degree programmes, courses and internal sections—in a way that ensured they could be maintained efficiently from an editorial perspective and operated reliably from a technical standpoint. The key challenge was to present complex content relating to studies and organisation in such a way that users could quickly find what they were looking for without the editorial team getting bogged down in special cases.

01

Making complex content accessible

The 'Study' and 'Organisation' sections cover a wide range of topics. These needed to be presented in such a way that users could find what they were looking for quickly.

02

Editorial efficiency

Content should remain structured and easy to maintain, whilst at the same time allowing for flexible expansion, even in special cases.

03

Duplicate event entries

Appointments were coming in at a rapid pace and needed to be kept up to date reliably, without having to be entered manually multiple times.

04

Secure internal areas

Internal content should be securely accessible without hindering editorial workflows.

Das Vorgehen

Wie wir es gelöst haben.

Iterative implementation in sprints, with regular reviews, close coordination with the product owner and stakeholders, and clear prioritisation.

01

Information architecture and UX

We developed the information architecture and optimised the core use cases – ‘Study’ and ‘Events’ – using a user-centred approach. The requirements and prioritisation process was carried out iteratively with the Product Owner.

02

Course Finder

We have developed a clearly structured course finder, complete with course pages and detailed views. This enables prospective students to find courses more quickly.

03

Event management integrated with Campus Events

Event management in TYPO3 is automatically linked to Campus Events. Events are therefore automatically imported and processed, eliminating the need for duplicate data entry.

04

Intranet and single sign-on

We have implemented single sign-on (SSO) and access control for internal areas. Editorial workflows have been added to the intranet section to ensure that internal content remains secure.

05

Modern front end and component set

We have designed a responsive user interface for desktop and mobile devices using a consistent set of components. Reusable templates for overview and detail pages ensure that the platform remains easy to maintain from an editorial perspective.

06

Relaunch SEO

For the relaunch, we set up a redirect management system and carried over redirects from the existing site to ensure that content remains discoverable.

Das Ergebnis

Was sich messbar verändert hat.

The relaunch brings together design, features and editorial content, making the PH Heidelberg much more accessible online.
