HMT Leipzig: Relaunch made ready for release again

We took charge of and stabilised the TYPO3 website relaunch for the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre. Our focus was on fully optimising the front end for responsiveness, rebuilding key features such as the course finder and events calendar, and ensuring the site was ready for launch.

Die Ausgangslage

Womit die Hochschule zu uns kam.

The relaunch had already begun, but was in a critical state: the quality of implementation and technical stability did not meet requirements, key functions had only been partially implemented, and the front end had significant issues with responsiveness and browser compatibility. Stepping into an ongoing project means not being able to start from scratch, yet still having to quickly establish quality and reliability. Instead of cosmetic fixes, we first identified and prioritised the critical areas requiring attention.

01

Critical project status

The quality of the implementation and technical stability did not meet the requirements. The relaunch had stalled and was not ready to go live.

02

Faulty front end

The front end exhibited significant issues with responsiveness and browser compatibility. Display errors occurred across various breakpoints.

03

Incomplete core functions

Key features had only been partially implemented. The course finder and the calendar of events did not meet the standards required for a relaunch.

04

Significant editorial effort

It was not possible to manage the wide range of course content efficiently, as there was no data structure that could be imported.

Das Vorgehen

Wie wir es gelöst haben.

We took over the project, systematically analysed the existing solution, prioritised and fixed bugs, and brought the website up to a state where it was ready for release.

01

Audit and error analysis

We carried out a technical audit and a structured error analysis. This laid the groundwork for prioritising the critical relaunch issues.

02

Redevelopment in phases

The implementation was reorganised into clear phases: first critical fixes, then core functions, and finally the finishing touches. The process was carried out through close coordination and a transparent backlog.

03

Repair the front end

We have overhauled the entire front end with clean breakpoints and optimised key components for responsiveness. Display and browser compatibility issues have been resolved.

04

Redesign the course finder

The course finder has been completely redesigned and implemented. An importable data structure presents the wide range of course content in a structured manner and reduces the editorial workload.

05

Redesign the events calendar

The events calendar has been redesigned to include a data model, list views and detailed views. It provides a maintainable framework for ongoing editorial updates.

06

Systematic quality assurance through to release readiness

We have established a systematic QA process covering responsive behaviour, browser compatibility and regression testing. Through reviews, staging and bug fixes, we brought the website to a state of readiness for release.

Das Ergebnis

Was sich messbar verändert hat.

We got the relaunch back on track and put it on a solid footing.
